Horrible Bosses, Incredible Scones

It seems finally some calm has been restored on the streets to London - and it's just as well, because really, violence isn't the answer to anything. Who isn't frustrated about something or other? But since when did smashing down shop windows and walking away, flat screen TV and another person's life and livelihood tucked underarm, resolve anything? I hope you're not thinking "she's one to talk", considering my high-powered, rather frustrated rant the other night. Ooooh no. A good ramble, a few tears, a hot water bottle, couple of episodes of Friends and something with chocolate in does it for me. Think these rioters should take a leaf out of my book 'ey? No, I mean seriously?

Because let’s be honest, there’s no situation bad enough that some chocolate therapy and Jennifer Aniston can't ameliorate - even if it's only by way of temporary distraction. And so I embarked upon this mission of self-soothing, armed with a download of Horrible Bosses and a recipe from this blog. CHOCOLATE ORANGE scones. I need say no more because the pictures (in the next post) will talk for me. This one drew tears of joy (and pain - think blisters) as I stood, at the oven, munching my way through the end result. When I finally managed to tear myself away with an additional two scones in tow, their slightly cooler demeanour was more than compensated for by this rather wicked film. IMDb gives Horrible Bosses a handsome 7.5 on 10, and rightly so. It tells the story of three average Joes (Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis) stuck in their jobs with, can you guess? Yeah, that’s right, three horrible bosses (Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell). After all three reach their breaking point, they decide life would be better if their bosses ceased to exist. What follows is their hilarious effort in finding a way to get it done without being caught. And while murder, car chases, scandal, rape, blackmail and revenge would otherwise be key words to a suspenseful drama, in this case they're applied to a dark comedy that is relentless. The actors are all brilliant, though of course I'm only the slightest, tiniest bit partial to Aniston, who steps out of her "normal girl" comfort zone and steps out pretty darn well. In all, what I’m basically saying is, make scones guys, not war.
